Painted Metal

For this body of work, Arch uses old found iron or new iron sheets that are chemically aged - made rustico - as her canvas. Often, when starting with an interesting piece of found iron, the surface textures with their many irregularities help inform and inspire the finished piece. Arch uses acrylic paints and often goldleaf to enhance the depth and mood. Her backplates, also of iron, create the frame complimenting the painting.
